Subj: A two-fold goal.
Date: 1/26/05
The goal of our organization Catalyst for Kids, is to "Help caring hearts touch hurting lives." This is a two-fold goal. To help churches and groups here in the states who have the means but not always a way, and to help those within developing countries who have a way but not always a means. The following is a recent letter from Ira. It shows how God is opening the doors that we may reach this goal. It is a letter of thanks to those of you who have shared the means, from those who have a way, and thanks from the kids that are the benefactors of our teaming together.
Hello,
Yesterday I had a wonderful trip to the orphanage for children with visual problems in Samgorodok with a Church group. The youth group of that church is very organized and has a wonderful evangelistic program for the children. The church supported their group with some funds and they were able to buy shampoos, soaps, and toothpaste for kids along with a children's Christian book. But didn't have enough to pay for the transportation and they have never been to that orphanage and didn't know how to get there.
So one evening I got a phone call with the suggestion to go with the group. My part was to come up with good directions of how to get to the place, with transportation of course, and a case of bananas. So, we all added something to the trip and had everything we needed.
We met in the morning by the church, there were a lot of people who wanted to go the van was full! But it was so encouraging for me to see new faces and the desire to share God's love with others. Soon we were at the orphanage, where the children were waiting for us. They helped to unload everything and soon we started our program.
There were stories from the Bible for the children, testimonies, songs, one poem and a prayer of course. At the end it was time for the gifts. I don't know who was happier, us or the children. The children liked their gifts, and for us it was a privilege to spend time with them, to share God's love, and to enjoy the happy faces of the children.
For me it is a good example of how our people can care too, even if their part is small, even if they need your help to help others. Still it is great to see hearts open for ministry and for sharing God's love. Special thank you to everybody who made our trip possible.
