Youth Organization of Disabled People
"HARMONY"
Harmony is a Ukrainian organization involved in helping disabled people in Ukraine by surmounting the psychological barrier between disabled and able people. We are different, but at the same time, we are all the same.
Some of the projects Harmony is involved in include:
- Integration of young disabled people into society
- Individual considerations for wheelchairs
- City adaptation to wheelchairs
- Organization of educational camps concerning the social adaptation of disabled people
- Over 13 charitable activities in orphanages and nursing homes
- Mobile library for people in wheelchairs
- Help in finding the right school and needed jobs.
- Publishing our organization's magazine "Harmony". Where invalids can find an abundance of juridical, psychological, medical, and educational information.
Visiting village youth with disabilities. Friendship begins from a smile. For everybody involved in this outreach, such visits are moments of happiness and care.- Harmony constantly helps organize the youth festival for disabled people, "Believe in Yourself"
For almost three years, in cooperation with the International Fund of Invalids and Local Youth Center of Social Services, we have helped with organizing sport competitions, concerts, picture exhibitions for talented invalids, seminars for volunteers, radio and TV programs about the life of disabled people, and meetings with local officials and specialists.
Only together will we be able to help each other become an essential part of our world, to become complete citizens of our society.
